Oscar Zapata Garcia

Born and raised in Mexico City, Oscar holds a BA in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he studied as a Fulbright scholar. He worked as an editor for the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Mexican Revolution (INEHRM) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Mexico City, as well as in the Revista de Literatura Mexicana Contemporánea. His academic interests include contemporary Mexican and Latin American literature, representations of violence, migration and border studies, as well as science fiction, music and popular culture.
