Luana Reis studied Portuguese and English Languages and Literature at the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS). She is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures. Her research interests are Black Women’s Studies, Black Feminist Theory/Thought, Comparative Literature, African Literature in Portuguese, Contemporary Spanish and Portuguese Literature, and Black/African Diaspora. She is also dedicated to studies on the pluricentric aspect of the Portuguese language and the linguistic and cultural contexts in which Portuguese is a language of communication and interaction. She served as a Teaching Assistant in Brazilian Portuguese (Fulbright FLTA Program) at the University of Pittsburgh, USA (2013-2014). She worked as a coordinator of the English and Portuguese program at UEFS (2015). She worked as a Lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh (2016-2018).
