Dolores Lima
Teaching Associate Professor, Spanish Language Program Coordinator
Biography
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dolores Lima earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from University of Maryland under the direction of Prof. Jorge Aguilar Mora. She has taught Spanish language, culture and literature courses at Southern Connecticut State University, Montgomery College, University of Maryland and The Catholic University of America. Since 2015, she teaches and serves as Spanish Language Program Coordinator at the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh.
She has been a faculty member of the Middlebury College Summer School for more than ten years. In 2022, she taught for the Master in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the Universidad Europea de Madrid. The same year, she co-taught and co-directed with Ana Paula Carvalho the Seminar and Field Trip Program in Manizales, Colombia, organized by Center of Latin American Studies (CLAS).
Dolores Lima´s research and teaching interests include contemporary Latin American fiction, affect in literature, representations of laughter and, the narratives of the body. As coordinator of the Spanish Language Program, she focuses on curriculum design, Spanish for heritage learners and, professional development for teaching assistants and instructors.
